Sathish Muthukrishnan was named chief information, data and digital officer for Ally Financial Inc. in December, 2019. In this role, Muthukrishnan is responsible for advancing Ally’s technical and digital capabilities, including cyber security and infrastructure, and accelerating the company’s growth and evolution as a leader in the digital financial services sector. He is based in Ally’s Charlotte corporate center and reports to Ally’s CEO.
Muthukrishnan has held a number of senior technology leadership roles with substantial scale and global reach, and previously served as the chief digital and information officer for Honeywell Aerospace, a nearly $14 billion revenue business within Honeywell International. He brings to Ally more than 20 years of technology leadership experience in complex businesses with high availability and reliability requirements on their technology, ten of which were spent in financial services with American Express prior to joining Honeywell.
Muthukrishnan graduated from University of Madras with a degree in engineering specializing in computer science. He is a member of the Advisory Board of WIT International and was recipient of the Chairman’s Award for Innovation for several years at American Express. Muthukrishnan has over 25 filed patents in the manufacturing, payments and the digital technology space.

Stacy Suggs serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer for Bank Independent headquartered in Sheffield, Alabama. Stacy’s career with the Bank spans three decades beginning in 1988 when the Bank managed $100 million in assets and 9 locations. That has grown to $2.3 billion, 34 sales offices, a digital branch, and an additional $2.5 in annual receivables through Interstate Billing Service, a wholly owned accounts receivable subsidiary. Stacy is passionate about ensuring proper alignment and support of the Bank’s strategic plan. She has broad exposure to multiple areas to include operations, credit analysis, and risk management. Her expertise helps ensure we play by the rules.
From her initial role as a bank proof operator, Stacy moved into auditing, credit analysis, regulatory compliance, information security, and into her previous role as Senior Vice President of Risk Management, which she held from 2006 to 2017. Stacy earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from the University of North Alabama and holds professional CFSA and CRMA certifications in Audit and Risk Management. She serves as President of the board to Safe Place, Inc., the only comprehensive domestic violence program offered in North Alabama.
Stacy is a life-long resident of the Shoals area. She and her husband Stuart, an entrepreneur and small business owner, reside in Tuscumbia where they are active members in their church and volunteers in the community. They are the proud parents of two adult children, son Spenser and daughter Sydney, both of whom have earned degrees at UNA while working at Bank Independent.

Wolverton began her banking career with Synovus in 2003 as Director of Accounting and Financial Analysis. She was promoted to Synovus’ Senior Director of Banking in 2011 and was named Chief Strategy Officer in 2014. In 2018, Wolverton assumed the role of Executive Vice President and her duties were expanded to encompass customer experience oversight, including advancing digital transformation and analytics strategies. In December 2021, she was named Head of Consumer Banking and Brand Experience, assuming responsibility for the branch network, consumer banking products and services, and mass affluent strategy and execution.

Chana R. Schoenberger is the editor-in-chief of American Banker. Previously, she was the editor-in-chief of Financial Planning after joining Arizent in 2020.
In her prior role, she was the managing editor for U.S. wealth management at J.P. Morgan. Before that, she was a columnist and freelance journalist, and previously worked at Bloomberg News, Dow Jones/The Wall Street Journal, and Forbes. A graduate of Harvard College, she received her master’s degree as part of Columbia Journalism School’s Knight-Bagehot Fellowship for business journalists. She is now based in New York City after stints in Tokyo and Canada.

Vik serves several leading financial institutions in the Americas and Europe on strategic and digital transformation programs involving major strategy choices and operating model changes Co-leads McKinsey’s practice on digital and analytics in banking globally, having built this up from scratch in North America since 2013 Aside of advisory, the practice comprises over 500 technical experts, architects, product owners, cloud and data engineers, and software engineers focused on high-end delivery Vik is the author of a McKinsey book called “The Digital Factory and Mission Based Model" and has published extensively on mckinsey.com and elsewhere

Stacy Suggs serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer for Bank Independent headquartered in Sheffield, Alabama. Stacy’s career with the Bank spans three decades beginning in 1988 when the Bank managed $100 million in assets and 9 locations. That has grown to $2.3 billion, 34 sales offices, a digital branch, and an additional $2.5 in annual receivables through Interstate Billing Service, a wholly owned accounts receivable subsidiary. Stacy is passionate about ensuring proper alignment and support of the Bank’s strategic plan. She has broad exposure to multiple areas to include operations, credit analysis, and risk management. Her expertise helps ensure we play by the rules.
From her initial role as a bank proof operator, Stacy moved into auditing, credit analysis, regulatory compliance, information security, and into her previous role as Senior Vice President of Risk Management, which she held from 2006 to 2017. Stacy earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from the University of North Alabama and holds professional CFSA and CRMA certifications in Audit and Risk Management. She serves as President of the board to Safe Place, Inc., the only comprehensive domestic violence program offered in North Alabama.
Stacy is a life-long resident of the Shoals area. She and her husband Stuart, an entrepreneur and small business owner, reside in Tuscumbia where they are active members in their church and volunteers in the community. They are the proud parents of two adult children, son Spenser and daughter Sydney, both of whom have earned degrees at UNA while working at Bank Independent.

Daniel Wheeler is a 25+ year financial services regulatory lawyer and innovator. Dan functions as an R&D lab for his financial services clients, helping them invent businesses and products through innovative regulatory strategy. This includes helping clients decide on a regulatory identity that best suits their cost and operational constraints. Mr. Wheeler helps clients solve significant regulatory challenges. Sometimes this involves intervention and advocacy with the Federal Reserve, FDIC, OCC, NCUA, CFPB, FinCEN and state financial regulators, as well as negotiation of enforcement actions.
Dan has served as the general counsel of a cryptocurrency lender company where he developed innovative products and services. He successfully chartered a de novo bank and served as CEO. He is launching two secured credit card programs and has an innovative public/private partnership in development to solve the longstanding problem of cannabis businesses not being able to freely access banking services.

Wolverton began her banking career with Synovus in 2003 as Director of Accounting and Financial Analysis. She was promoted to Synovus’ Senior Director of Banking in 2011 and was named Chief Strategy Officer in 2014. In 2018, Wolverton assumed the role of Executive Vice President and her duties were expanded to encompass customer experience oversight, including advancing digital transformation and analytics strategies. In December 2021, she was named Head of Consumer Banking and Brand Experience, assuming responsibility for the branch network, consumer banking products and services, and mass affluent strategy and execution.
Before joining Synovus, Wolverton served as a Finance Director for Centerplate Management in Greenville, South Carolina. She started her career in the assurance and advisory business services division of Ernst & Young in Greenville and Atlanta.
Wolverton has been named one of American Banker’s 25 Women to Watch since 2015. This annual ranking recognizes women for their impact on their company, industry, and community-at-large, as well as for leadership and innovation in the face of industry challenges.
