Citi announces leadership appointments in Asia Pacific Markets business

The new heads will be based in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Citi has announced a series of leadership appointments in its equity derivatives, financial institution sales and solutions, and markets treasury teams in Asia.

Mario Serafino has been named sole head of the bank’s Asia Pacific Equity Derivative Sales division. Prior to joining Citi in October, Serafino spent 19 years at J.P. Morgan, most recently serving as head of the institutional solution sales and cross asset third party distribution team in Asias Pacific.

Citi has also appointed Mohit Singh and Sue Lee as co-heads of FISS or the Financial Institution Sales and Solutions for Markets in Asia, effective 1 January 2023.

Singh and Lee will be responsible for executing Citi’s FISS strategy across financial institutions in Asia, which focuses on client experience. Singh will be based in Hong Kong while Lee is based in Singapore.

Singh currently serves as head of global spread products (GSP) sales for Asia, and co-head of generalist sales. He has sales experience across FX, rates, and GSP for both institutional and corporate clients. On a day-to-day basis, Citi expects that Singh will focus more on leading the product specialist, country generalist and relationship management teams.

Lee, meanwhile, was previously co-head of equity derivatives distribution and MAG Asia, where she oversaw the solutions for financial intermediaries (SFI) team. She will lead the origination of private side markets opportunities across all asset classes with financial institutions, according to Citi, and will work closely with BCMA, commercial bank, and global wealth divisions.

Finally, Badrinivas NC has been named as markets treasury regional head for APAC, effective immediately. Badrinivas will be responsible for overseeing the management of Markets Treasury activity across APAC within permissible regulatory and internal frameworks and risk tolerances across the region's legal vehicles, according to Citi.

Currently, Badrinivas serves as head of markets for Citi South Asia and country treasurer, Citi India. He has over 23 years of banking experience, and will be based in Singapore.
