ING appoints ex-Westpac senior director as head of real estate finance in Australia

ING has appointed Darren Beatty as head of real estate finance (REF) Australia.

Beatty succeeded Wouter Mijnen, who returned to ING’s head office in Amsterdam after five years in Australia.

He reports to Margreet Rog Tokkink, interim head of wholesale banking Australia, and Robert Scholten, head of REF APAC.

Beatty has over 20 years of experience, with a career in managing institutional and corporate real estate clientele across markets that include Australia, New Zealand, Asia, North America, and Europe.

He joins ING from Westpac Institutional Bank, where he was senior director, institutional real estate. Prior to joining Westpac in 2014, Beatty was with the Institutional Banking and Markets team at Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

As head of REF Australia, Beatty will reportedly be responsible for the further expansion of ING’s real estate franchise in the country.
